May 2009 unemployment rates have been announced and Leelanau County has Michigan’s 2nd lowest rate at 8.6%. Of Michigan’s 83 counties, only 6 remained under 10%. Jobless rates declined in 24 counties, all of which are located in the tourist-based northern counties.
